Store email by size, not hype

Omnisend vs Klaviyo vs GetResponse: Pick by Store Size, Not by Hype

Public pricing and feature lists only. Omnisend, Klaviyo, and GetResponse compared by store size, SMS, and whether you need pages or a course. Not a store test.

Omnisend · Klaviyo · GetResponse

Updated 14 August 2026. Public pricing and feature lists only. We have not run these three as paying stores for this draft. Vendor lines such as “save up to 35% vs Klaviyo,” “better deliverability,” or “top affiliates earn $12K–$18K” are marketing. They are not used as facts here.

Disclosure: Some links to Omnisend and GetResponse may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission. It does not change the price you pay. Klaviyo links go to official pages.

The one-line difference

Omnisend is email + SMS + web push built for ecommerce. One product, store events, pre-built flows.

Klaviyo is a customer platform that starts with email. Paid email dollars live in the in-app plan picker. SMS, reviews, analytics, and service tools are separate subscriptions. You are billed on active profiles, including people who left an email at checkout and never opted in.

GetResponse is an all-in-one for small businesses and creators: email, landing pages, funnels, and (on Creator) webinars and courses. Ecommerce features exist. SMS is an Enterprise add, not a self-serve core plan.

If the job is “Shopify / Woo store, cart and browse flows, maybe SMS,” the first two are the real pair. GetResponse is in this article because a lot of small shops also need pages, a webinar, or a course, and because two of our programs sit on Omnisend and GetResponse.

Third-party “Klaviyo is $20 at 500 / $45 at 1,500” tables exist. They disagree with each other. We do not copy them.

Omnisend: ecommerce email and SMS in one bill

Omnisend is the straightforward store tool. Official FAQ: the Free plan is unlimited in time; the limits are 500 emails and 250 contacts. Automations, forms, and SMS collection are available; send volume is the gate.

Standard is the email-first paid tier. On the pricing page with the slider at 251–500 contacts it showed $16/mo (or $11.20/mo for three months prepaid at 30% off), 6,000 emails/mo (the feature table also states Standard = 12× list size), unlimited web push. Branding on mail/forms is optional.

Pro is the SMS and volume tier. At 2,500 contacts the same page showed $59/mo list / $41.30/mo on the 3-month offer, unlimited emails, SMS credits starting at a published $0.007 for high-volume US. Account experts are free from $400/mo spend.

Billing note, from the page itself: you are billed for people who got an automation, not only “subscribers.” Unsubscribed contacts are not billed. That is closer to Klaviyo’s profile logic than to a clean opted-in list.

Do not take Omnisend’s “Save up to 35% vs. Klaviyo” or “Migrate from Klaviyo / better deliverability” nav copy as a measured result. Those are vendor headlines.

Pick Omnisend if you have a store, you want email + SMS + push without a second product, and you want a public price before you create an account.

Skip Omnisend if you are not selling products online (you will pay for store features you do not use), or you need webinars and a course builder in the same login.

Klaviyo: profiles, then add-ons

Klaviyo’s public pricing page (14 August 2026) is a free-plan page plus a “build a plan” CTA. Official free highlights: 250 profiles, 500 emails/mo, $5 of mobile messages, 10,000 Composer credits, built-in reporting.

Official help (updated 25 March 2026) is the useful part:

  • The core plan is Profile and Email. It must cover active profiles and emails sent.
  • An active profile is anyone you can still email, “regardless of consent status,” including checkout emails who never opted in.
  • Exceed the profile cap and you are moved to a compliant plan next cycle. Free accounts that go over cannot send until they are back under the cap.
  • Mobile messaging is a separate monthly dollar subscription. Unused dollars do not roll over. Rates are per message, by channel and country, carrier fees included.
  • Reviews, Customer Hub (from $20/mo), Helpdesk (from $10/mo), Customer Agent (from $50/mo), and Marketing Analytics (from $100/mo) are more separate products.

That structure is why Klaviyo feels expensive as a store grows even when the email editor is not the problem: you pay for every reachable profile, then you pay again if you want SMS, reviews, or analytics.

We will not invent a 1,000-profile email price. Open klaviyo.com/pricing → Build a plan, or Billing → Change plan, and use that number.

Pick Klaviyo if you already live in Shopify/Woo data, you want one profile for email / SMS / on-site, and you will actually use the extra products. Skip the guesswork if you only need a price on a blog — Omnisend and GetResponse publish theirs.

GetResponse: pages, funnels, and a course — SMS is Enterprise

GetResponse publishes three self-serve plans. FAQ: packages are 1k / 2.5k / 5k / 10k / 25k / 50k / 100k contacts. The prices on the page are the 1,000-contact package.

Starter — $19/mo ($15.58 yearly): unlimited sends, AI generators (3 uses), welcome series, 1 custom automation, landing pages, forms. Three users. Yearly plan includes a free custom domain.

Marketer — $59/mo ($48.38 yearly): unlimited automations, abandoned cart, sales funnels, promo codes, revenue reports, unlimited web push. This is the first plan that looks like a small store plus a lead funnel.

Creator — $69/mo ($56.58 yearly): Marketer plus webinars (compare table: 100 live attendees), website builder (5 active sites), course creator. Pricing card says “up to 500 students”; the compare table says “up to 40,000.” Trust checkout. Course transaction fee is listed as 0%.

SMS marketing is in the Enterprise column, not Starter/Marketer/Creator. If SMS in the same app is the reason you opened this article, GetResponse’s public self-serve plans are the wrong row.

Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and PrestaShop are listed integrations. That is not the same as Omnisend’s or Klaviyo’s store-native flow libraries. GetResponse is the pick when the store is one channel among landing pages, a webinar, or a course.

Pick GetResponse if you need email + pages + a funnel (and maybe a course) at a public $19–$69. Skip it if SMS-in-the-same-app is non-negotiable on a self-serve budget.

How to choose

New Shopify or Woo store, under 250 contacts. Omnisend Free or Klaviyo Free. Same published caps (250 / 500 emails). Omnisend if you want SMS and push on the same free feature list. Klaviyo if you already plan to grow inside that ecosystem.

Store doing real cart and browse flows, you want a price before signup. Omnisend Standard or Pro. The dollar amounts are on the page. Add SMS on Pro.

Store with a messy profile list and a lot of checkout emails. Read Klaviyo’s active-profile definition before you commit. You can be billed for people who never opted in. Omnisend also bills automation recipients who are not “subscribers.” Clean the list or you will hate either bill.

You sell a course or run webinars, and the store is secondary. GetResponse Creator. Or Kit, if the list is a creator list (see the Kit vs Beehiiv piece). Not Klaviyo.

You need SMS on a $20–$70 plan. Omnisend Pro (credits on the page). Klaviyo (separate mobile plan; $5 free). Not GetResponse self-serve.

You are comparing “Klaviyo vs Omnisend” on price alone. Use Omnisend’s slider and Klaviyo’s in-app picker on the same profile count, the same week. Do not use a 2026 blog table. Do not use Omnisend’s 35% headline.

Who should use none of these

  • You send cold email to strangers. That is Instantly / Lemlist / Smartlead.
  • You only publish a newsletter and sell a digital file. Kit or Beehiiv.
  • You want one winner for every shop. Store size, SMS, and whether you need a course change the answer.
